Journalism Industry Experience

Before entering the world of academia, I had spent nearly 15 years practicing the craft of journalism both in China, the United States and elsewhere. I had worked for the leading Chinese newspaper, the People’s Daily, as an international news editor from August 1995 to January 2004. From February 2004 to August 2007, I worked in the newspaper’s Washington, D.C. bureau as a residential correspondent. I also reported and interviewed people in Western Europe, Israel, Sweden, Central Asia and elsewhere.
